Michael (Duck) Brewer age 74, of Knoxville, passed away on Monday, March 9, 2026. He was a member of Wallace Memorial Baptist Church. He was also President of the Halls Community Club for three years. Mike was very active in the Halls community, Community Park, sporting events before his Dementia. He was a basketball coach and baseball coach, leading his baseball team to win the Knox County Championship. He also held Duck’s Pitching Camp for two years. In 1969 Mike was a Pitcher for Halls High School Baseball team and was named MVP. Mike was also active in golf and softball. Mike retired from Xpedx after many years of employment. He was also a survivor of Bulbar Polio, having been diagnosed at the age of one.
He was preceded in death by his father, William Ora Brewer; mother, Imogene Sherritze Brewer; brother, Darrell Brewer; and sisters, Kay Dawson and Janice Robbins.
Duck is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Judy Brewer; son, Derek Brewer; daughter, Sherri Taylor; granddaughters, Jaden Brewer and Katie Miracle; great-granddaughter, Audrey Miracle; sisters, Sue Clapp and Kathy (Greg) Cardwell; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Thursday, March 12, 2026, from 5:00-7:00 PM at Mynatt Funeral Home, Halls Chapel followed by a 7:00 PM funeral service officiated by Rev. Kent Williams. Family and friends will meet at 12:45 PM on Friday, March 13, 2026, at Phillip Keck Cemetery in New Tazewell for a 1:00 PM graveside service officiated by Rev. Glenn Kitts.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to Emory Ridge Memory Care and their staff for their exceptional care. They would especially like to thank special nurses, Jackie, Kendra, Jasmine and Kara.
