Michael E. Cooper

Michael E. Cooper, age 70, of the Halls Community, Knoxville, Tennessee, passed away Wednesday, March 18, 2026. He worked for Waste Connections as a driver for over forty years. Michael enjoyed tinkering with any kind of car. He loved going to car shows, dirt track racing, yard sales and setting up his products at flea markets. Michael is preceded in death by his wife, Karen Cooper and father, L. E. Copper.

He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Jason and Sheila Cooper; grandchildren, Dusty Varner and Macy McNeir Smith; mother, Opal Cooper; brothers, Allen Cooper, Gary (Cindy) Cooper; sister, Carolyn Delius; brother-in-law, Ronnie Smith; sister-in-law, Janette Smith and several nieces and nephews and cousins and his beloved dog, Casey.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Sunday, March 22, 2026 at Mynatt Funeral Home, Halls Chapel with a funeral service to follow at 7:00 PM. Reverend Bill Dixon officiating. Family and friends will meet by 10:45 AM Monday, March 23, 2026 at Fort Sumter Community Cemetery for an 11:00 AM graveside service.
