Melvin Gene (Geno) Ivey

Melvin Gene (Geno) Ivey, (1932 - 2024), 92 years old, of Knoxville, TN, died peacefully in his sleep on April 3, 2024. He was born in New Castle, Indiana, to parents Melvin and Maud Ivey. He was a storyteller and always enjoyed sharing his many stories of playing basketball in Indiana and all of the adventures he had with his friends.
Geno met his wife, Shelby Jean, while they worked for the Department of Energy in Miamisburg, Ohio. They were married for 33 years. Geno was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Maud Ivy, sister, Ruth Ivey, sister Dorothy and brother-in-law, Albert Alexander.
Geno is survived by stepchildren, Janine Ivey, Rick Thornsburg and his wife, Merry, Teresa Fullerton and her husband, Jim, Tina Culpepper and her husband, Jeff, and Nicole Johnson. He also had 9 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
