Melissa Renae Wilkerson

Melissa Renae (Courtney) Wilkerson, age 46, of Knoxville, Tennessee, passed away on October 25, 2026.

Melissa was a member of North Acres Baptist Church and was currently employed at the University of Tennessee. She was a sweet, kind-hearted person who loved her family, friends, and animals. Melissa’s loving heart and caring nature touched the lives of those around her, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her husband, Matt Wilkerson Sr.; son, Matthew Wilkerson, Jr;  her mother, Renata Courtney; her stepmother, Linda; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Teresa and Mike Wilkerson; sister-in-law, Missy (Johnny) Graham; brother-in-law, Michael (Melissa) Wilkerson, 4 nieces and 1 nephew;  aunt; Lisa (Tony) Weaver;  uncle, Billy Ray (Patsy) Courtney, and several cousins.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Edna Courtney and R.W. Courtney; her father, Glenn Randall Courtney; and her cousin, Tabby (Courtney) Coffee.

Melissa will be remembered for her kindness, her love for those closest to her, and the special place she held in the hearts of her family and friends. Her memory will live on in the lives she touched and the love she shared.
