Maudia Yvonne Gosa Proffitt, of Knoxville, Tennessee passed away on May, 15th, 2025. She was surrounded by family and experienced a peaceful passing.
She was the daughter of Pete and Maudie Gosa of Pell City, Alabama. She was born at the military hospital at Fort McLellan, Alabama on July, 7th, 1954.
She was the youngest of three children, having two older brothers. She was a graduate of Fayette Co. High School in Fayette, Alabama. As a child in a military family, she completed her early schooling both overseas and at various locations in the US. She was a varsity cheerleader and participated in various high school activities.
She attended Walker Co. Junior College and followed up several years later at Jefferson State College in Birmingham, Alabama. She spent a good deal of her career in retail sales and store management. She also worked for several years for Verizon Comm. She loved books, art, and animals. She enjoyed caring for her flower garden. She had two nephews, a niece and seven grand nephews and nieces, who she loved and adored.
She is survived by her brothers John S. Gosa of Knoxville, Tennessee and Jake Gosa (Pat) of Amelia Is., Florida.
A funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm on Saturday, July, 12th at Mynatt Funeral Home, Fountain City Chapel (Rennoc Rd Location) in Knoxville. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to UT Medical Center, Hospice Services, (4435 Valley View Dr. Suite 107, Knoxville, TN 37017.)
