Mattie Lucille Ammons Sweet, born August 31, 1929, entered her Heavenly home on Monday, January 12, 2026. Lucille was an active member of both the former New Hope Presbyterian Church of Knoxville and currently Powell Presbyterian Church serving in many capacities such as Ruling Elder, Clerk of Session, Sunday School Teacher, and Choir Member. Her greatest joy was in working with the patients and staff of Hanna Cancer Associates and being "Dr. Hanna's right hand" for over 40 years.

Preceded in death by husbands, Paul H. Sweet and Harry W. Cornelius, son, Jonathan David Sweet, stepson, Lane Cornelius, parents W.J. Ammons Sr. and Reba Ammons Rymer (L. E. Rymer), brothers W.J. Ammons Jr. (Sadie), Paul E. Ammons and sister, Anna Mae Smith (Burt). Survived by daughter, Jennifer K. Sweet Lane, stepchildren, Marshall (Diana) Cornelius, Shelby (Patricia) Cornelius. Grandchildren: her utmost pride and joy, Draven Reid Lane, and several step-grandchildren. Many nieces and nephews both surviving and preceding. Extended family: Drs. Wahid and Samia Hanna, Staff of Hanna Cancer Associates, Staff of UTMCK Volunteer Services and Happi Chamblee, wonderful caregiver and friend.

Many thanks to the staff and physicians at UTMCK, and all the family and friends who reached out to support the family through constant prayers, kind acts and words and visitations.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 17th from 1:00-3:00 at Powell Presbyterian Church with services to follow. Rev. Katina Sharp officiating and Sarah Davis will provide music. Her ashes will be later interred at Bookwalter Cemetery where she will reunite with her husband Paul, her son Jon and her brother Paul.
