Mary Gordon Rhyne

Mary Gordon Rhyne, age 82, of Powell, TN, passed away on September 7, 2026. She was born on April 10, 1944 to the late Francis and Agnes Gordon in Middlesboro, KY. She grew up in Arthur, TN and was a graduate of Powell Valley High School and LMU. She worked in the lab at Lakeshore Mental Health from 1975 to 2007. Mary was saved at an early age and her faith was evident as she became a wife and mother. She honored God with her life and passed that Christian heritage on to her children and grandchildren. Mary was a faithful member of Temple Baptist Church for 46 years. Mary loved her family dearly and her home was always open to family and friends alike. 

Mary was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, John Rhyne, and siblings, Shirley Couch, JC Gordon, Marvin Gordon, and Wilma Belt. 

Mary is survived by children, Gordon Rhyne and Dan (Charlotte) Rhyne and grandchildren Molly, Jacob, Georgia, Rachel, and Sam Rhyne. 

The family would like to extend their gratitude to Suzzy Kelly and Kathy Seus for their loving and dedicated care for Mary over many months.

The family will receive friends from 5:00pm - 7:00pm, Friday, September 11, 2026 at Temple Baptist Church, Curtis Hutson Chapel with a funeral service to follow at 7:00pm.  Pastor Derrick Morlan and James Zenker officiating. Family and friends will meet at 10:45am Saturday, September 12, 2026 at Greenwood Cemetery for an 11:00am interment service.
