Mary Lou Moore

On Wednesday, December 20, 2023, Mary Lou Moore, of Knoxville, Tennessee, passed away peacefully at University of Tennessee Medical Center at the age of 77.

She was married to her husband, Harold Moore, for 57 years and a loving mother to four children and a loving grandmother to four grandchildren. Mary was born on April, 28, 1946, in Kentucky. She spent much of her youth helping care for her younger siblings and many of her adult years working in various nursing homes, as she had a passion for caring for others. She also spent many years assisting her husband, Harold, with small print shop they owned in Ohio, all the while raising young children. She was a dedicated supporter of St. Jude Children’s Hospital for many years. Mary loved to read and had read countless books in her life. She loved when Spring arrived so she could plant vegetables and flowers around her home.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Mellis and Deskie Barnett. Her brothers and sisters, Russell Barnett, Miles Barnett, Justeen McClelland, and Annie Lou Barnett.

She is survived by her children, Zona Moore, Duane Moore, Debra Moore, and Devin Moore. Her grandchildren, Brennan Moore, Auston Moore, Zachary Johnson, and Lindsay Moore. Her Brother and sisters: Ruth
Slagle, Flossie Scholl, and Kenneth Barnett.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, December 23, 2023, at 2:00pm at Fort Sumter Cemetery.

A special thank you to the staff at the University of Tennessee Medical, especially the nursing staff on the 11th and 12th floors as well as the Palliative Care Team. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children Hospital 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
