Mary Louise Turner

Mary Louise Turner, age 90, of Knoxville TN, passed away Friday, April 3, 2026. A graduate of the University of Tennessee, Louise was a teacher for the Knox County School System for several years then selflessly devoted herself to caring for her five children and her husband of 62 years, Richard Dix Turner. Louise was a member of Faithway Baptist Church.

Louise was preceded in death by her husband Dix, parents Fred and Ideal Grindstaff, and her sister Jessie Beeler.

She is survived by her five children: Dawn (David) Hankins, Diane (Greg) Ward, Darlene (David) Counts, David (Alana) Turner, and Deborah (Jason) Drum; eleven grandchildren: Sara Ward, Mollie Pallo, Rachel Hankins, Hannah Kubas, Sharon Counts, Landon Turner, Emily Nelms, Isaac Counts, Nathan Turner, Andrew Counts, and Ashleigh Turner; seven great-grandchildren; brothers Fred (Edith) Grindstaff and Charles Grindstaff.

The family will receive friends at Mynatt Funeral Home, Halls Chapel, on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, from 11am-1pm. Interment will follow at Fort Sumter Community Cemetery, 4828 Salem Church Road, Knoxville, TN . Online condolences may be left at www.mynattfh.com.
