Mary June (Large) Womack, age 80, of Knoxville passed away December 20, 2012 at her home. She was born June 6, 1932 in Jennings County, Indiana. She was a simple farm girl that moved to Knoxville after she married her love, Weltha Womack, when he returned home from the Korean War, they were married 59 years. Mary June was a homemaker all her life and raised 9 wonderful children and a few neighborhood kids that would always stop in for a peanut butter sandwich and a glass of Kool-aid. She loved to read, sew, and garden (especially her flowers). She was an angel sent down from Heaven for everyone to share in her joy. She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Weltha Womack, parents Catherine and Willie Large, and great-grandson Brian Womack. Survivors include 9 children Diana (Danny) Odum, Larry (Mary) Womack, Susan (Bob) Dyer, John (Linda) Womack, Kathleen (Mark) Daly, Guy (Rhonda) Womack, Gregory (Kim) Womack, Kenneth Womack, Rebecca (Doug) Holder, 21 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and her Indiana family: brothers Robert (Margaret) Large, Billy Large, sisters Carol (Glen) Wolfe, Linda Lou (Joe) Giddens, Nancy (Ed) Montgomery, and several nieces and nephews. Special thanks to UT Hospice for their care and support, especially Ms. Frances, whom Mary June shared a special bond with. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children Research Hospital. She participated in the St. Jude march on numerous occasions along with her children and grandchildren. Funeral service will be held Saturday 4 PM at Mynatt Funeral Home Fountain City Chapel with Rev. Marcus Daly and Rev. Dennis Blazier officiating. Family and friends will meet 1:45 PM Sunday at Lenoir City Cemetery for interment at 2 PM. The family will receive friends 2-4 PM Saturday at Mynatt Funeral Home Fountain City Chapel.
