Mary Geraldine Sharpe

Mary “Gerri” Geraldine Sharpe, age 88 of Knoxville, passed away July 5, 2021. She was a longtime member of Sharon Baptist Church where she was a discipleship leader. She loved flowers, gardening, and being outdoors. Gerri enjoyed spending time with her family, friends and pets. She retired from Knox County Schools as a teacher. Preceded in death by parents: James and Elizabeth Burgess, and brothers: Robert Burgess and James Burgess. She leaves behind her husband of 63 years, Charles Elwood Sharpe (of Harlan County, Kentucky), brother Charles Burgess, sister-in-law Jeanette Hansard, nieces Allison Hickman, Tami Kistler and Penny Bowers, great-nephews: Garrett Clark and Stefan Clark, and special friends: Doug Koontz, Dennis Koontz, Stacey Greene, Wally and Brenda Dye, Kris Dye, and Dwayne Dye, and Doris and Carl Foust. Family will receive friends from 10:00-12:00 PM Friday, July 9, 2021 at Sharon Baptist Church, with funeral service to follow at 12:00 PM, Dr. Jim Robertson and Rev. Mark McCoig officiating.
