With deep sadness but abiding gratitude, we announce the passing of Marilyn McAuley, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, who departed this earthly life to enter the arms of her Savior.
Marilyn was a woman of remarkable character—gentle yet spirited, faithful yet fiercely independent, deeply rooted in family and unwavering in her devotion to Christ. Her life was a beautiful tapestry woven with threads of love, resilience, laughter, and grace. She faced each chapter of life with courage and conviction, whether it was in times of quiet joy or seasons of sorrow.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 34 years, Travis McAuley, whose passing two years ago left a tender ache in her heart, now mended in their heavenly reunion. She was also preceded by her cherished parents and her dear sister, each of whom she spoke of with love and longing.
Marilyn leaves behind a family who adored her deeply: her son, Robert McAuley, and his wife Alicia; their children Travis, Harrison, and Emma, each of whom brought her immense pride and joy. She is also survived by her daughter, Rhonda McMahan, and her husband Joseph, along with his daughters Madison and Cara, whom Marilyn loved as her own granddaughters.
To know Marilyn was to know joy. She had a sparkle in her eye and a wit that could brighten any room. She was feisty and funny, fiercely loyal, and unafraid to speak her mind. Her laughter was contagious and her love, unconditional. She was an avid reader who could lose herself in the pages of a good novel, and a creative spirit who enjoyed crafting beautiful things with her hands. Her home was often filled with little projects, thoughtful gifts, and cherished family photographs that told the story of a life well lived.
But above all, Marilyn’s greatest joy was found in her role as “Gramma.” Her grandchildren were the lights of her life. She cheered at their milestones, comforted them in their sorrows, and delighted in their everyday wonders. To them, she was more than a grandmother—she was a safe place, a steady presence, a source of endless love and wise counsel.
Her faith in Jesus Christ was the foundation of her life. It shaped the way she loved, served, and saw the world. Marilyn was not only a believer in word but in action—gracious, forgiving, and strong in spirit. She found peace in scripture, purpose in prayer, and comfort in the promise of eternal life.
As we grieve the loss of Marilyn, we also celebrate the beautiful life she lived. Her legacy is etched in the hearts of her family and in the countless memories shared by those fortunate enough to know her. She has run her race with grace, and now she rests in peace, wrapped in the love of her Savior.
A Celebration of Marilyn’s life will be held at Mynatt Funeral Home, Halls Chapel on Sunday, June 1, 2025, the family receiving friends from 4:00-6:00 PM, followed by a 6:00 PM service officiated by Dr. Jeff LaBorg. All who loved her are welcome to gather in remembrance of the incredible woman she was.
In lieu of flowers, the family invites donations in her honor to Fairview Knox missions at fairviewknox.com. A reflection of Marilyn’s lifelong generosity and faith.
