Psalm 103:15-18
As for man, his days are like grass; he flourishes like a flower of the field; for the wind passes over it, and it is gone, and it’s place knows it no more. But the steadfast love of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting on those who fear him, and his righteousness to children’s children, to those who keep his covenant and remember to do his Commandments.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our most cherished mother and grandmother, Marilyn Adele Lonske on this day, December 17, 2025, at 12:43 a.m.

Born November 26, 1938, to Lawrence and Bertha Towns in Wayne, Michigan. Marilyn was baptized and confirmed as one of God’s children at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Wayne/Westland, Michigan.

A graduate of Wayne Memorial High School, Marilyn followed in her father’s footsteps and was employed with National Bank of Detroit.

Marilyn was introduced to her future husband, Marvin, shortly after his honorable discharge from the United States Navy. They married March 11, 1936.

The couple welcomed daughter Rebecca Louise July 23, 1969, and son Christopher Mark June 25, 1971. They were blessed with their only grandchild, Jessica Louise June 24. 1994.

The family relocated to Maryville, Tennessee in October 1996 where they transferred to Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church of Knoxville, Tennessee. Marilyn enjoyed her beloved Smoky Mountains and took great pride and joy in watching her granddaughter grow.

Marilyn is preceded in death by her father Lawrence Cleve Towns (July 22, 1961), mother Bertha Louise Towns (March 6, 1979), and husband Marvin Mark Lonske (November 13, 2020).

She is survived by her daughter Rebecca (Ronnie) Copeland, son Christopher Lonske, and granddaughter Jessica (Hunter) Greer.

Per her wishes there will be no funeral arrangements. Marilyn will be cremated and interred with her husband at Glen Eden Memorial Park in Livonia, Michigan at a later date.

In lieu of flowers or cards, please consider honoring her legacy with a monetary contribution in her name to either St. John’s Lutheran School of Westland, Michigan, Hope Christian Academy (formerly Huron Valley Lutheran High School) of Westland, Michigan or Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church of Knoxville, Tennessee.
