Margaret Lee Cogdill

Margaret Lee Bodine was born March 7, 1940, in Hugo, Oklahoma. Her parents were James A. And Ruby E. Bodine. Margaret was the eldest with seven younger brothers- Leroy, Emmett Eugene (Gene), Ronny Wayne (Ron), William (Bill), Fletcher, Charles, and Ricky Dale (Rick). She loved her younger brothers dearly. The Bodine family moved to Oregon in 1949. Margaret went to Glide High School, in Glide, Oregon. She was a cheerleader for the Glide Wildcats.

She met Rex E. Wilson from Maude, OK, at the Oakland post office. It was love at first sight. They married Sept. 12, 1956, in Oklahoma. Margaret wore a cream white stylish suit that her mother bought her with a pretty cream white hat. Rex wore a suit. Rex and Margaret lived with his parents Iva and John Wilbert Wilson on their farm in Maud, Oklahoma. Margaret got homesick and they both returned to Oregon.

They had two children together, Vicki Lynn and Terry Wynn Wilson. Her grandchildren include Jesse Barnhart, Cassandra Winter, Caley Steyaert, Kaitlin Rasmussen, Alex Cogdill, Sarah Huber and Andrew Cogdill-Cole. Great-Grandchildren include: Dove, Peregrine, Atlas and Orion Winter, Ireland Barnhart, Alex Eastman, Macaijah Cogdill, Eric Simmons, Henry Sutton, Hannah and Bennett Huber.

Rex and Margaret lived in Washington, and Oregon. Eventually settling in the Cedar Mill area. They opened a Tavern that was successful. Margaret and Rex divorced and later Margaret married James H. Cogdill (Jim) on March 23, 1977. Margaret's stepchildren include: Sherry Steyaert a Realtor and Chester James (Jim) a musician and songwriter. Margaret and Jim resided in the Cedar Mill area. Margaret worked many jobs in her life as a devoted mother, nurse's aide and waitress. Margaret also worked at Tektronics. Margaret attended Portland Community College and earned her certificate and degree as a dietary technician. She became the dietary supervisor at Raleigh Hills Rehab Facility and Baptist Manor. She was known for her kindness, understanding and her fabulous cooking skills, especially for pies.

Margaret will be fondly remembered for her pretty green eyes and lovely smile. She had a quick wit, a charming sense of humor and a generous heart. Her memory will live in the hearts of all who knew her.

Margaret died peacefully at home. Her stepdaughter, Sherry Steyaert and beloved and devoted husband James Cogdill were at her bedside. Her son, Terry, and daughter, Vicki, grandchildren, Jesse and Ireland had talked to her on the phone just a short time before her passing. She is resting in heaven now.

Family and friends will meet at East Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery-John Sevier on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at 1:45pm for a 2:00pm Graveside service.
