Mabel Elizabeth Patton

Mabel Elizabeth Patton, 88, of Powell, TN went home to be with her Lord and savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, March 22, 2026. 

Liz was born in Canton, China, the daughter of missionaries. She graduated from the University of Rochester with a bachelor of nursing science degree and went on to complete her masters degree in nursing education.

Liz spent 5 years in Monrovia, Liberia where she was involved in educating nursing students. She returned to the United States where she focused on both raising her kids as well as actively serving in her local church with a heart for working in the bus ministry. After 10 years, Liz and her loving husband moved to Suriname, South America where they served for 26 years.

After Liz returned to the United States she began assisting her husband with the classes he taught at The Crown College of the Bible as well as being an active member of Temple Baptist Church for the last 13 years. Liz lobed working with the college students and seeing many students graduate, get married and go on to serve the lord faithfully.

Liz is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, Robert Dixon Patton and her children Becky (Ernie) Ramsey, Cathy (Paul) Chapman, Kimberly Chaplin and Marc (Charin) Patton. She is also survived by Keith (Doris) Scott and her siblings Joanna (Lawrence) Tsuyuki and Charles (Carolyn) Stringham. The Lord blessed Liz with 18 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents James and Charlotte Stringham as well as her older brother James Alfred Stringham.

Liz's life verses were John 8:31-32,36... And you will know the truth and the truth will set you free... So if the Son sets you free. you will be free indeed.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Wednesday, April 1, 2026 at Temple Baptist Church (main sanctuary) 1700 West Beavercreek Drive Powell TN 37849 followed by a 7:00 PM funeral service, Pastor Derrick Morlan officiating.
