Lynda Dorene Wright

Lynda Dorene Whitmire Wright, age 82 of Corryton, TN passed away peacefully with her family around her on April 18 after a brief illness. 

She touched the lives of many with her generous warmth and caring for her church (Clapps Chapel), family, friends and community. After retiring to Corryton from a career in nursing, she enjoyed singing in the choir, making special/favorite food dishes for friends and family, working with the Corryton Food pantry, and Oakes Farm. 

Lynda was preceded in death by her loving husband Richard, parents E.S and Margaret Whitmire, brothers Chester Whitmire (Mary) and Cecil Whitmire (Linda). She is survived by her children - Dana White (Roger) and Bob Wright; Grandchildren – Eli White and Sarah White Duggins (James); Great-granddaughter Eleanor Duggins; Brother-in-law Jack Wright (Linda), and beloved dog Buddy, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. 

Lynda graduated from Holston High school and after marrying Richard, she had many adventures as a military wife, always striving to make sure those around her had a “home” while they were away from loved ones. She went back to school and earned her associate’s degree in Mental Health, and also became a nurse. As a nurse, she loved working with geriatric patients, working at St. Mary’s Hospital and Shannondale Nursing home before moving and working in Wilmington, NC. 

The family will receive friends at Clapps Chapel Church on Thursday, April 23, 2026 from 5:30pm - 7:00 pm, followed by a funeral service. Family and friends will meet at Clapps Chapel Cemetery on Friday, April 24, 2026 at 10:45am for a 11:00am graveside service.
