Lynda Jo Hinkle

Lynda Jo Hinkle, 83, of Knoxville, TN passed away February 28, 2026 at home while surrounded by her family.

Lynda was born in Birmingham, AL in 1942. She met and married her late husband there and they began their family of three children in Birmingham. Her husband’s work gave the opportunity for the family to move all over the southern United States while finally settling in the middle Georgia area.

Lynda worked in technical publications for the aerospace industry until her retirement. She lost her husband in 2015 and relocated to Foley, Alabama to live with and care for her mother until her death in 2022. She then moved to Knoxville, TN and remained there until her passing. She enjoyed spending time with her children and family, shopping, creating arts and crafts and she was an avid gardener.

Lynda is proceeded in death by her husband of 54 years, Roderick Hinkle and her parents, George Lemp and Helen Abernathy.

She is survived by her children - Clarke Hinkle (Michael) of Knoxville, TN, Tim Hinkle (Kristi) of Kennesaw, GA, Kelly Bentley (Jody) of Fort Valley, GA, five grandchildren – Richard, Madeline, Elizabeth, Tyler and Amber, two great-grandchildren – James Walker and Mackenzie, Sister – Janice McKenzie (Donnie), Brother – Johnny Inzer (Linda), Sister-in-law – Carolyn Hinkle and niece Kim Hinkle as well as many other beloved relatives.

A very special THANK YOU to UT Hospice and all of their wonderful nurses and aides that showed such compassion and care for our beautiful mother.

Services will be held at St. John’s Lutheran Church Saturday, March 14, 2026 at 2pm with reception / visitation to follow. Location is 544 N Broadway, Knoxville, TN 37917.
