February 10, 1934 — April 9, 2023

Louise C. Meck beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 9, 2023. She was at home with her loved ones in Powell, TN where she had resided since 2011. She was born February 10, 1934 in Ceres, Virginia. She was preceded in death by her; ex-husband, Donald Barger; husbands, V.W. Evans and Dr. Mervin E. Meck; parents, Mary Ruth Bruce and Olen McCanless Cassell; sisters, Norma Kidd and Jean Kirk, step-daughter, Annette Cedeno; and grandson Ross Barger. She is survived by her daughter, Debra Colston and grandson Ryan; granddaughter Crystal and husband Clyde Redden, great-grandson Branson. Survived also by her son Donald Robert Barger and wife Debbie; grandson Daniel and granddaughter Katie. She is survived by her brother Frank Cassell (Margaret), Sisters Martha Bowman, Doris Foglesong, and Carol Crabtree (Gary), brother-in-law Dale Kirk, son in law Doug Cedeno and granddaughter Taylor. Many nieces and nephews will also miss her smile and loving kindness. She grew up in a large extended family on a generational farm in Nebo, Virginia. She was Valedictorian of her graduating high school class as well as a feisty basketball player. She was short in stature but big in spirit, as her 6 siblings can attest. She was a buyer for a chain of grocery stores for over 20 years in Norfolk, Virginia. In retirement she and husband VW Evans purchased her family farm and returned to their love of farming. She enjoyed working with the livestock but most of all took great pride in her flower and vegetable gardens, especially her roses. Thanksgiving was a big occasion on the farm with her cooking for days to host all of the extended family and friends. For 20 years she also donated her time and resources to manage and expand the Bland Ministry Clothes Closet. She became the bookkeeper for the organization and ultimately secretary for the board of directors. She was a generous and caring person who donated to many charities, especially those that helped children. She was a Sunday School teacher for many years and faithfully supported her church. Her life reflected her deep belief in Jesus Christ and she is at peace with the Lord and her beloved family members who have gone on before her. The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 13, 2023 at Callahan Rd Baptist Church from 1:00pm to 2:00pm with a funeral service following at 2:00pm, Rev. Mike Patty will officiate.
