She was a buyer for a chain of grocery stores for over 20 years in Norfolk, Virginia. In retirement she and husband VW Evans purchased her family farm and returned to their love of farming. She enjoyed working with the livestock but most of all took great pride in her flower and vegetable gardens, especially her roses. Thanksgiving was a big occasion on the farm with her cooking for days to host all of the extended family and friends. For 20 years she also donated her time and resources to manage and expand the Bland Ministry Clothes Closet. She became the bookkeeper for the organization and ultimately secretary for the board of directors. She was a generous and caring person who donated to many charities, especially those that helped children. She was a Sunday School teacher for many years and faithfully supported her church. Her life reflected her deep belief in Jesus Christ and she is at peace with the Lord and her beloved family members who have gone on before her.
