On May 2, 2025, Lou Wallace Brooks Blackstock went home to be with Jesus. Lou was born in Knoxville, Tennessee on May 17, 1939 to E. Neil and Helen Brooks. She grew up in South Knoxville where she was a graduate of Young High School class of 1957. She attended the University of Tennessee, Knoxville and was a member of Alpha Delta Pi sorority. As a talented artist and organist, she enjoyed painting and began playing the organ for local churches at the age of sixteen.
Through a blind date, she met the love of her life, Bob Blackstock, and they married in 1959. Together they raised four children and were blessed with nine grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. Lou was a true helpmate to Bob and their love and marriage of 55 years served as a testimony of God's faithfulness and goodness. Lou worked alongside Bob in his dental practice, and together they also served in ministry through a church they planted in Fountain City, as well as leading church services at a local nursing home. Lou was a nurturing mother and grandmother leaving a lasting legacy of love and strong faith. She was a friend to all, using her servant's heart to care for and encourage those around her. Throughout her later years, Lou enjoyed ministering to friends and neighbors with meals she cooked daily. After Bob's passing, Lou moved to the Pointe At Lifespring Assisted Living, which became like family to her. As a social butterfly, she became a friend to all and God continued to use her to bless the lives of the staff and residents during her time there. Her family wishes to thank the entire staff and community at the Pointe for their compassion, care, and love that she received during her time there and her final days.
Lou was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Bob Blackstock; and father and mother-in-law Dewey and Cleo Cate Blackstock. She is survived by daughters Laura Jaco (Bill), Tracy Dees (David Sr.), Kara Box (David), and son Stuart Blackstock; grandchildren Billy Jaco (Jessica), Matthew Jaco (Shelby), Andrew and Alec Jaco, David Dees, Jr. (Katie), Hunter Dees (Samantha), Brycen and Kaylin Ritchie, and J.D. Blackstock; and 11 great grandchildren.
