Lorna Maxine Cathey

Lorna Maxine (Weyland) Cathey, age 77, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 28, 2025, at her home in Knoxville, Tennessee. Lorna was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother whose life was defined by love, faith, kindness and quiet strength. She had a gentle spirit and a generous heart, always placing the needs of others before her own. Her home was a place of comfort, and her presence brought warmth and reassurance to all who knew her. She is survived by her loving husband, Donald Thomas Cathey; her daughter, Angela Lynn (Tom) Hopkins, her grandchildren, Tyler Scott Laird (Mallory Samler) and Logan Chase Laird (Stephanie Hoover); and her great-grandchildren, Grayson Christopher Laird and Haisley Monroe Laird; Jaxson Samler, and Hudson Hoover. She was preceded in death by her parents, Rudolph (Rudy) Weyland and Alma (Wurtz) Weyland; her son, Bradley Cathey; and her brother, Barry Weyland. Lorna took great pride in her family and found her greatest joy in caring for and supporting those she loved. She will be remembered for her compassion, her resilience, and the unwavering love she shared throughout her life. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished by her family and friends. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Friday, January 2, 2026, at Wallace Memorial Baptist Church, with a 1:00 PM Funeral Service to follow.
