Lois Ann Welch

Lois Ann Welch, 82, of Knoxville, TN passed away Thursday, November 6, 2025.  Born January 11, 1943 in Athens, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Pearl & Marian (Neibaur) Hunkerford.  In addition to her parents, Lois is preceded in death by her sisters, Reva Fulton, Guyla Prince, Jerry Hunkerford and her brother, Gary Hunkerford. Lois was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Thomas Joseph Welch. 

Lois is survived by her children, Gary (Janet) Welch, Thomas (Geena) Welch and Karen (Scott) Tuck; her grandchildren, Lauren, Eric, Kendall, Kenzie, Reagan and Emma; her great-grandchildren, Claire and Evan; her sister Sandra Mercurio; plus other family and friends.  

Lois retired after a long career at the University of Tennessee.  Lois was a passionate animal advocate, loved annual vacations with family to Holden, Beach, NC, enjoyed her weekly thrifting circuit, telling stories of eating tomatoes off the vine, talking with her neighbors where she lived 45 years and especially spending time with her family. 

The family will receive friends from 5:00PM – 7:00PM on Wednesday, November 12, 2025 with a short service to follow at 7:00PM at Mynatt Funeral Home Powell Chapel.  There will be a private family entombment on Thursday November 13, 2025.
