Lillis Ann Staley

August 21, 1938 — July 23, 2012

Lillis Ann (Jessee) Staley, age 73 of Luttrell, received her call to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday morning, July 23, 2012 after a brief battle with cancer. She was a faithful member of Mountain View Church of God. Lillis had worked for 29 years at Standard Knitting Mill, and later at St. Mary’s Hospital for 18 years, where she retired. Lillis is preceded in death by her parents Otis and Gladys Jessee; brothers Estle and Hollis Jessee; sister Mabel June (Jessee) Merritt; daughter-in-law Debbie Hixon Staley; brothers-in-law Bill Mills and Jimmy White; grandsons Christopher James Lee, Joseph Brian Lee, and James Marcus Staley. Lillis is survived by children Mark and wife Diane Staley, Debbie and husband Dennis Rutledge, Ray Staley, and Johnny Staley; grandchildren John Ferguson, Jason and Aaron Staley, Jamie Johnson McGinley, Alexis Ann Staley, Jonathan Mathias Lee Staley and Andrew Geiss; great grandchildren Bryce and Brandon Staley, Alden and Connor Staley, Megan and David, Jr. McGinley, Leah and Jonah Ferguson; sisters Shirley (Jessee) Mills, Elsie (Jessee) Lett and special brother-in-law Ray, Pauline (Jessee) White; and brother Rev. Kelsey Jessee and wife Joyce; very special brother-in-law Alvin Merritt and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. Funeral service 11:00 am Wednesday at Mynatt Funeral Home Halls Chapel with Rev. Paul Hughes and Rev. Ricky Merritt officiating. Interment to follow at Greenwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Building Fund, Mountain View Church of God, P.O. Box 336, Luttrell, TN 37779. Pallbearers will be Mark Staley, John Staley, Dennis Rutledge, Jason Staley, David Staley and Ricky Merritt. Honorary pallbearers will be John Ferguson, Johnny Merritt, Aaron Staley and Anthony White. The family will receive friends 5:00 – 7:00 pm Tuesday at Mynatt Funeral Home Halls Chapel.
