With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Larry Joe King of Luttrell, Tennessee, who entered into the presence of his Savior on Tuesday, May 19, 2026. Though our hearts are broken, we find comfort in knowing he opened his eyes in Heaven.
Larry proudly served as a Deputy with the Knox County Sheriff’s Office, and as a security officer, dedicating years of his life to protecting and serving his community. He carried a servant’s heart and a strength that reflected both in his career and in the way he cared for the people around him.
Larry loved laughter, making memories, and sharing life with the people he loved most. He had a wonderful sense of humor and a way of making people feel at home. Many also knew him for his love of collecting Batman memorabilia, a hobby that brought him joy and became one of the many unique things people remembered and loved about him.
More than anything, Larry loved his family deeply. He leaves behind his children: Crystal Jones (Larry Jones), Lorna Roach (Travis Roach), Jaydee Murray, and Eugene King (Christopher Pericolosi).
He was a cherished Papaw to his grandchildren: Tiffany Gray (Tony Gray), Emily Jones, Landry Powell, JayLynn York, Lexie Ledbetter (Bryson Ledbetter), Ava Roach, Amelia Roach, Moira Lorch, Ryan Poole, and Amber Mayse, along with many extended family members and dear friends who will forever treasure his memory.
Larry was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Tiny Marie Bailey, and his infant son, Timothy Joe King.
Larry will be remembered for his sense of humor, his servant’s heart, his love for his family, and the impact he made on those around him. The love he gave and the memories he created will continue living on through those who knew him best.
The family will receive friends at Mynatt Funeral Home, Halls Chapel, on Thursday, May 21, from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM, with the Funeral service beginning at 7:00 PM, with Rev. Tony Gray and Rev. Tiffany Gray officiating.
Family and friends will meet at Mynatt Funeral Home, Halls Chapel, at 12:15 PM on Friday, May 22, 2026, to go in procession to Greenwood Cemetery for a 1:00 PM Graveside service with Rev. Danny Overholt officiating, where family and friends will gather to honor and celebrate Larry’s life.
Though he will be greatly missed, his family rejoices in the blessed assurance that this is not goodbye forever.
"I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith." — 2 Timothy 4:7
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor Larry’s memory by making donations to Mynatt Funeral Home to help with funeral expenses.
