Kenneth Bolton died on May 22, 2026 in Knoxville TN, only three months after his wife, Ann, died.
Ken was born and raised in Yorkshire, the only son of Marjorie and Harry Bolton. From childhood, he was an active sportsman. He completed an apprenticeship in electrical engineering. He then left England for what was then Southern Rhodesia to work as a power plant engineer for the capital city, Salisbury. He met and married Ann Wilson in 1960, and their first son, Jonathan, was born there before they returned to England. Their second son, David, was born in Gravesend. The family emigrated to the United States in 1973. Ken worked in sales for a company related to the auto industry of Detroit. He was an active Mason and rose to become Grandmaster of Michigan.
In their retirement, Ken and Anne formed many close friendships in Savannah lakes, South Carolina. He was an avid golfer. In his late 70s, he single-handedly renovated an old house in the nearby town of McCormick.
In his last years, his memory failed him. For his last year, he lived with David and his husband in Knoxville.
He will be missed by his two sons, as well as by Don, Jill, and Grace, as well as by his many friends who know him, his warmth, his generosity, and his wit.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the McCormick Arts Council at the Keturah
(MACK) in McCormick, South Carolina www.McCormickArts.org
