Kenneth Edward Arnold, 77, passed away on August 21st, 2023, at 12:15 PM at UT Medical Center surrounded by his family. Kenneth was born on September 28, 1945, in Knoxville, TN to his parents James Floyd & Anna Arnold, and older brother, Roy Arnold, whom all preceded him in death. He was the faithful husband to Peggy Ann Caylor Arnold and lived a full life of love, tragedy, and adventure. Their love story began at the Copper Kettle restaurant on Middlebrook Pike, and they had just celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary in June.
Kenneth graduated from Bearden High School and graduated from Knoxville Business College and attended the University of Tennessee. As newlyweds, Kenneth and his wife moved to Victorville, California, to reside at George Air Force base with the United States Air Force. He was honorably discharged after four years as a Staff Sergeant. He spent many years of his life as a professional piano player for The Crownsmen and The Singing Revelations touring the country playing for churches. He retired from both TVA and KUB after many years of service.
Kenneth was a devoted dad to four children Robbie Dean Arnold, Robin Arnold Schmid (Greg), Timothy Scott Arnold (Hollie) and Heather Lauren Haley (Clifton). He was preceded in death by his first two children, Robbie Dean Arnold and Robin Arnold Schmid. We know that when he was ushered into glory some of his first hugs were them. He was an incredible Papa to Kayla Porter (Spencer), Karlie & Keely Schmid, Bailey & Cole Arnold, Georgia & Joel Haley and an amazing Great Papa to Laila, Lily, Ernie & Lonnie Porter.
Every moment of his day was focused on his family. Our weekly Friday night dinners, picnics in the mountains, season passes to Dollywood and of course gathering for UT games and Atlanta Braves baseball games. If we weren’t physically together, we would always chat together in our group text message “New Cool Kids on the Block”. Faith and family were the core foundations of his life, mixed in with hard work and southern gospel music.
He was a loyal member of Fairview Baptist Church in Corryton, TN. The family would like to thank all the physicians, nurses and medical professionals of UT Medical Center that have help us over the years. We have been there more than any one family should have to – but each time we found the highest quality of medical care, compassion, and professionalism.
Kenneth is preceded in death by daughter, Robin Arnold Schmid, son, Robbie Dean Arnold, parents, Floyd & Ann Arnold, and brother, Roy Arnold. Survived by loving wife Peggy Ann Caylor Arnold, children Timothy Scott Arnold (Hollie) and Heather Haley (Clifton), grandchildren Kayla Schmid Porter (Spencer), Karlie & Keely Schmid, Bailey & Cole Arnold, Georgia & Joel Haley, great grandchildren Laila, Lily, Ernie & Lonnie Porter.
