Karen Rae Wilson

Karen Self Wilson, age 77, peacefully departed this world on July 6th, 2024, after a battle with dementia, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on August 31st, 1946, in Maryville, TN, Karen graduated from Maryville High School, then attended and graduated from Knoxville Business College. She married her beloved husband Charlie, with whom she shared 47 years of marriage. She dedicated 44 years of her career as an executive secretary at KCDC, retiring in 2008.

Karen loved spending time at the lake with family and friends, creating treasured memories with those she loved. She also had a passion for shopping, with a talent for hiding her purchases from her husband.

Karen was deeply devoted to her family, especially her husband Charlie, their son Michael (Leslie), and her granddaughter Cadie Wilson, who held a very special place in her heart. She is also survived by her sister Sharen Watson and nephews Adam, Taylor, and Joseph Watson. Sister-in-laws, Beth Wilson Greene and Sandy Wilson Armstrong (Charlie).

Karen was preceded in death by her parents, Emory and Lavada Self, who she now joins in eternal peace.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 10, 2024, from 5:00 PM -7:00P M at Mynatt Funeral Home, Halls Chapel with a funeral service to follow at 7:00PM. Family and friends will meet at Sharon Baptist Church Cemetery on Thursday, July 11, 2024, at 10:45 AM for an 11:00 AM interment.
