Karen Sue Stokes Hawks

August 14, 1949 — December 30, 2023

Knoxville

On December 30, 2023, Karen Sue Stokes Hawks gained her heavenly wings. God called his servant home to walk amongst the angels welcoming her with his arms wide open. She was a member of Dante Baptist Church and a lifelong resident of the Hinds Creek community. Though her life was full of challenges you would have never known it. Karen was always helping and sacrificing for others. She would give you the shirt off her back and her last dime if you needed it, even if it meant her being without. She raised her three girls by herself, often working two jobs to provide for them, but never complained. She was a selfless servant of God and strong in her faith. She was the first to volunteer to help or do for others no matter what she had going on in her life. Karen opened her door and heart to many through the years. She was always there for anyone who needed her. She was Mamaw Karen to everyone. She gave her time and talents to many including her church and Fairview Elementary school. Her favorite thing to do was cook and bake for others. She was fierce, independent, and had a heart of gold. Her pride and joy were her three girls Lisa, Melanie, and Michelle. As well as her granddaughter Alyssa. She leaves behind a legacy that will never be forgotten. Karen is proceeded in death by her mother Maxine Stokes, father Ernie Stokes, sister Janice Varner, and friend Frances Waller.

She leaves behind to mourn her passing daughters and sons-in-law:  Lisa & David Bost, Melanie & Ron Cox and Michelle & Dustin Boone.  Her grandchildren: Alyssa Pique (Cruise, Alex Boone (Shasta), Logan Boone (Haley), and Katelyn Robinson (Andred). Great Grandchildren: Grayson, Saylor, Braden, Gavin, and Andred Jr. Her grand puppies: Snickers, Sparkette, & Merle.  Special friends: Marie Collins, Mendi Shackleford, Rick Carnes, Shirley O’Dell, and Jackie Murphy. Along with a host of other family and friends.  Family will receive friends 5:00-7:00pm Thursday, January 4, 2024, at Mynatt Funeral Home Halls Chapel with service to follow at 7:00pm. Services will be conducted by Larry Wise. Family and friends will meet at 10:00am Friday, January 5, 2024, at Mynatt Funeral Home Halls Chapel and proceed to New Loyston Cemetery for an 11:00am interment.

Pallbearers will be Ron Cox, Dustin Boone, Cruise West, Larry Collins, Barry Collins, David Bost, Jerry Collins, and Rick Carnes.

Honorary Pallbearers: Larry Wise, Richard O’Dell, Tim Moretz.

Although she is in a better place, she leaves a hole in our hearts. My good and faithful servant your race on earth is done. Heaven is your reward.
