Joyce Earlene Goosie, age 67, of Heiskell, TN passed away on August 15, 2026, at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center.
For 28 years, she proudly served as a Medical Assistant at South Eastern Retina Associates, where she touched the lives of countless patients and coworkers with her kindness, compassion, and caring spirit. She was loved by all who knew her and will be dearly missed.
She loved her son, daughter-in-law, and grandchildren tremendously, and her family was truly the center of her world.
She cherished every moment spent with them and took great pride in the people they had become. More than anything, she loved making people smile and laugh.
She had a playful spirit and was always looking for her next opportunity to bring joy to those around her. She was famous for her distinct whistle, often using it to fool people into thinking a bird was nearby, and she loved hiding in unexpected places just to surprise someone with a good jump scare. And no one was ever too far away from a little treat, as she almost always had candy tucked away in her scrub pockets.
These little things were uniquely her, and they are the memories her family, friends, coworkers, and all who knew her will treasure forever. Her laughter, kindness, playful spirit, and unconditional love will remain in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know and love her.
Preceded in death by loving husband of 44 years, Joe; mother and father, Mary and Elmer Ellison; brother, Kent; half-brothers, Rodney, Eddie and Jack Mills.
Survived by son and daughter-in-law, Joey and Candice Goosie; grandchildren, Austin, Jenna, Wesley and Whitt Goosie; half-brother, Jimmy Myers; sisters, Darlene Wilkes (Dean), Mary Kate Rogers (Stan); niece, Beverly; special in-laws, Kathy (Joe), Kay (Dale) and Ray (Brenda).
The family will receive friends for visitation on Saturday, September, 19, 2026, from 5:00pm until 7:00pm. There will be a Celebration of Life service following the visitation with Rev. Bill Goosie officiating.
