Joseph Cockrum, 85 of Vonore, TN went to be with the Lord on October 28, 2025. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He was the last born of twelve siblings, a graduate of Fulton High School and lettered in several sports. He attended Carson Newman College, joined the Navy, and was in aviation ordinance. He also played basketball for his squadron and became self-employed as a manufacturers rep in 1981 with The Cockrum Company, Inc. until retirement. He was proceeded in death by his parents Mary Magdalene Rines and John Patton Cockrum, nine brothers, and one sister. He is survived by his loving wife, Lois Cassell Cockrum of 63 years, son Jeff Cockrum and wife Pam, daughter Ginger Cockrum Meyers and husband Michael. Grandchildren, Sean and Ryan Cockrum, Megan Cockrum Stabasefski and Keith Stabasefski, Patrick, Henry, Veronica, and Eleanor Meyers. Great grandchildren, Ella and Knox Stabasafeski and one sister, Mary Jane Poling. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm Friday, November 7, 2025, at Mynatt Funeral Home, Fountain City Chapel followed by a 7:00 pm funeral service, officiated by Rev. Luckey Steele. Family and friends will meet at 10:45 am Saturday, November 8, 2025, at Greenwood Cemetery for a 11:00 am graveside service with Full Military Honors conducted by the Tri-County Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to City View Baptist Church, 2311 Fine Ave., Knoxville, TN 37917, which is the church Joe grew up in and where his family still attends.
