John S Phillips

June 6, 1952 — December 2, 2022

John Phillips, 70, of Knoxville, Tennessee went home to be with the Lord, December 2, 2022; born to Martha Lee Phillips on June 6, 1952. Little John Phillips was a free spirit! Gentle and kind most of the time, sharp and calculated on a pool table and in his prime he could shoot with the best of the best! He was a loving and caring man who loved to explore new places and always liked a challenge. In his words he would say “I been all over but Tennessee is home. He loved cooking playing pool and walking. He always said walking made him feel free and helped him think. He loved his children and grandchildren, and they loved him equally as much. They always were excited to see papaw John because he always had a surprise for them, rather it was him being silly and playing with them, getting them gifts or making their favorite foods or snacks. To him holidays were complete when there was a combination of family, food, and a set of dominos! He touched many lives and lived in many places, but he always stayed the same, cool, laid back, understanding, and would give the shirt off his back if he really loved you. He is revered by plenty and will be missed by many and was always considered as one of the good ones, by anyone he crossed paths with. Those who are close to him find peace in knowing that he was a blessing to so many people in so many ways. Prayers that peace be with him in this life and the next as he strolls through heavens gates and takes his place amongst the Lord Jesus Christ. May God bless his soul. He leaves to cherish his memories, devoted ex-wife and caregiver Robin Hicks, sons, Karreem, Aantoina and Rodell, sisters, Laura and Wynema, brothers, Raymond T. Phillips and Baby James, nieces Starr and Donna, nephews, Choya and Raymond, sister-in-law, Lescell Bevels, daughter-in-law, Diona Ray, devoted stepchildren Matthew & Brianna Robinson, grandchildren, Dayonna, Alexis, Taryn, Alliyah, Chris, Terrance, Alona, Aniya, Maleiah, Teasia, Tariq, Allayah, Nathaniel, Rayona, Adonis, Cameron and Noah, great grandchild, Miles Watson, stepdaughter, Ashley Watson Page and a host of cousins and friends.
