John Grant Redwine III, age 68, of Knoxville, TN, went to be with Jesus on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at his home with family and friends. He was born in Morristown, TN to John Redwine Jr. and Ruby Redwine, and raised in Knoxville, TN. He graduated from Fulton High School in 1976 and from the University of Tennessee Knoxville in 1981. John was Vice President of Lending at Knoxville TVA Employees Credit Union. He retired after 32 years and was a well-respected member of the business community. He was a member of Black Oak Heights Baptist Church, where he served in the music ministry. John was married to his high school sweetheart, Terry Remaley Redwine for 48 years. They have shared a wonderful life together. He was a wonderful father to his two sons, Jonathan Dalton Redwine and Daniel Allen Redwine. He had one brother, Stephen Michael Redwine and sister-in-law, Kelly Redwine. He also enjoyed his faithful companion K'oss. John was a talented musician. He played trombone in the Fulton High School band and later went on to play keyboards in various groups through the years. He loved classic oldies band from the 60's and '70's. He also loved Christian music. He performed in several praise and worship groups at church. John also loved classic cars. He was a devoted husband, loving father, and true friend. He was encouraging, compassionate and kind to friends and neighbors alike. He enjoyed traveling; the beach was a favorite destination. His favorite Bible verse was to whom much is given much is required. He truly used his God-given talents in glorifying God with music and serving others.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 6, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Black Oak Heights Baptist Church, (405 Black Oak Drive, 37912). A service will follow at 7:00 p.m., officiated by Dr. Todd Stinnett. Family and friends will meet at 10:45 a.m. at Greenwood Cemetery on Thursday, May 7, 2026, for an 11:00 a.m. graveside service (3500 Tazewell pike, 37918). Pallbearers are Steve Redwine, Dalton Redwine, Daniel Redwine, Dennis Koontz, Mike Long, and Robert Laforlette, with honorary pallbearer Sam Watts.
