John Gregory (Greg) James

Greg James, age 73, passed away on August 2, 2025. He was born on June 30, 1952, in Houston, Texas and moved to Knoxville during childhood, where he remained a lifelong resident.

Greg enjoyed a long and dedicated career with Tom’s Foods, where he worked for 35 years before retiring in 2006. He was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church for the majority of his life.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Jennie James; his brother, Buddy Byson; and his wife, Judy James.

Greg is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Sepaniak, and son, Chris James; son-in-law, Matt Sepaniak; and his grandchildren, Elena, Rachel, and Kara Sepaniak, and Ethan and Avery James.

The family will honor Greg’s life with a private ceremony at a later date.
