John Sheperd Cunningham

John Sheperd Cunningham, born May 23, 1929, passed away on Wednesday, November 15, 2023 at the age of 94.

He was a graduate of Central High School, where he was the captain of the basketball team. He attended Carson Newman College. On September 3, 1949, John married the love of his life, Barbara Whited Cunningham. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War, before becoming a salesman at Leinart Engineering Co. John was a former member of Beaver Brook Country Club, where he enjoyed playing golf, and also enjoyed hunting, and fishing.

He is preceded in death by his parents, William D. and Lina Cunningham; and brother, William A. Cunningham.

John is survived by his wife of 74 years, Barbara W. Cunningham; sister, Elizabeth C. Kuykendall; God children, Michael Mussleman, Tammy Mussleman, Suzanne M. Beeler, and Bryan Beeler; as well as, fur baby, Abigail.

The family will receive friends on Monday, November 20, 2023 at Mynatt Funeral Home Fountain City Chapel from 4:00-6:00 PM. A private graveside will be held at a later date.
