John Edward Cardwell

John “Johnny” Edward Cardwell age 79, of Knoxville, passed away on Wednesday, April 15, 2026. He was a graduate of East High School and was a proud United States Air Force Veteran.

John was preceded in death by his father, James B. Cardwell; mother and stepfather, Helen L. Cardwell-McCord and Ivan "Mack" McCord; brother, Danny Cardwell; and sisters, Donna Sue McCord and Dolores Miller.

John is survived by his sons, John Jr. (Christy) Cardwell and David B. (Kimberly) Cardwell; grandchildren, C. Elizabeth Cardwell and C. Chase Cardwell; great-granddaughter, Gracee Layne Kirkland; sister, Diana (Milton) Cooper; Numerous nieces and nephews and longtime friend, Mike Fielden.

Family and friends will meet at 8:15 AM on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, for an 8:30 AM inurnment service at East TN State Veterans Cemetery-John Sevier. Pastor Paul Baird will be officiating from Compassion Church of Knoxville. Military honors will be presented by Tri-Co Honor Guard.
