Jerry Wayne Ashburn, our beloved father, age 77, of Corryton, TN, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

Jerry graduated from Powell High School in 1966. He served in the United States Navy from 1967 thru 1971 with the rank of MM2, E-5. He served in Vietnam aboard the USS Macdonough (DLG-8). He retired after 28 years from the Knoxville Police Department after serving most of that time as a detective.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Willard and Thelma Jean Ashburn; and brother, Donald Ashburn.

He is survived by his wife, Pamela Osteen Ashburn; and his children: Wendy (Bryan) Shoffner, and Jerry Ashburn. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Luke (Makenzie) Shoffner, Aaron (Brooke) Shoffner, and Jack Ashburn. He is also survived by a great-grandson: Riley Jay Shoffner.

Friends and family will gather at 12:15 pm at East Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery (2200 E. Governor John Sevier Highway, Knoxville, TN 37920) on Thursday, January 8, 2026, for a 12:30 pm graveside service officiated by Rev. Joe Graves. Serving as pallbearers will be Jerry Ashburn, Jack Ashburn, Bryan Shoffner, Luke Shoffner, Aaron Shoffner and Jason Booker. Full military honors will be presented by Tri-County Veteran Honor Guard.
