Jerri Lynn Shelley (York), age 82 of Knoxville, Tennessee, passed peacefully on Friday, November 29, 2024. After graduating from Central High School, she began work as a Lighting Consultant and continued her career at both Stokes and American Lighting, from which she retired. Jerri spent a significant portion of her life living in Walland, Tennessee, where she enjoyed tending to blue bird boxes, watching hummingbirds, and swinging on the front porch. After moving back to Knoxville, she began an over twenty-year service to the Love Kitchen, as a meal delivery driver. As a delivery driver, she went above and beyond for every person, family, and dog on her route. She could always be found with a warm smile and a pupperoni puppy treat, just in case she ran into a furry friend. Jerri was a loyal member of Washington Pike United Methodist Church.
She is preceded in death by parents Herman Bradley Dewey York and Grace Dunn York; sister Barbara Sue Dyer; and brother Dewey York.
She is survived by brother Carl York; sons Jeffrey Martin (Kristin) Shelley and Stephen Wayne Shelley; granddaughters Mary (Nicholas) Loveless, Emma Jones, and Kaya Roland; special friend Loretta Simpson; and her great-grandson, her sunshine, Benton.
A memorial service will be held at Washington Pike United Methodist Church on Wednesday, December 11, 2024 at 5:30 pm. The family will have a private graveside service the following day. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Association, the Humane Society of the Tennessee Valley, or the Love Kitchen.
