Jennifer Johnson Talley

Jennifer “Jennie” Talley passed peacefully on August 13, 2026, after a long and courageous battle with stage 4 breast cancer.

Jennie lived her life with an exuberant joy that was rooted deeply in her love for Jesus. To say she was the life of the party would be an understatement. She loved big, laughed often, and carried a joy and energy that could fill a room. She loved people wholeheartedly and had a gift for making those around her feel cared for, welcomed, and loved.

That same heart for others was evident throughout her career as a chemotherapy nurse with Tennessee Cancer Specialists. Even while walking through her own cancer journey, Jennie continued caring for others facing cancer themselves. She had the unique experience of understanding both sides of the treatment chair, and the compassion, strength, and encouragement she gave to her patients and those around her left a lasting impact.

Jennie also had a lifelong love for horses. Some of her greatest joy was found around them, and her time volunteering with Faith N Friends was incredibly meaningful to her. Her love for horses, her heart for serving others, and the relationships she built through that community will remain an important part of the legacy she leaves behind.

Above all else, Jennie loved Jesus. Her faith carried her throughout her life and through every part of her cancer journey. While her family grieves her deeply, they are incredibly thankful that she is no longer suffering. There is great comfort in knowing that she is now fully and completely healed, rejoicing with her Savior and reunited with her beloved husband.

Jennie is survived by her daughters, Amber Lowe (Benjamin) and Lanna Talley (Christopher Harder); grandchildren, Samuel and Joy Lowe; mother Marilyn Johnson; siblings, Douglas Johnson, Marybeth Fromke, and Benjamin Johnson; along with many other dearly loved family members and friends.

Her family will forever be grateful for the nurses, specialists, doctors, caregivers, friends, and family who cared for Jennie and walked alongside her throughout her cancer journey.

Jennie fought hard, loved people well, and loved Jesus even more. The joy, faith, and love she carried throughout her life will continue through the family, friends, patients, and communities whose lives she touched.

A Celebration of Life honoring both Jennie and her husband Jim will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at Grace Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 11:50 a.m., with the Celebration of Life service beginning immediately afterward and a reception to follow.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to Steiger Ministries or Faith N Friends Horse Rescue in Jennie’s honor.
