Jean Varner Cassady

Jean Varner Cassady, age 87, of Knoxville passed away October 9, 2023. She was a member of Black Oak Ridge Baptist Church and proudly served the citizens of Knox County for 42 years in Chancery Court.

Preceded in death by her parents Bert and Pearl (Wallace) Varner; and brother Bobby Varner.

Survived by son Samuel (Cindy) Cassady; grandchildren Ben and Brittany Cassady, Seth (Anney) Cassady; great-grandchildren, Gabriel, Ian, Madalyn and Rhett, Elanor and Theodore and Priscilla; sister-in-law Doris Varner as well as many cousins and wonderful friends.

Jean will be greatly missed by her grand and great-grandchildren and caregivers Ben, Brittany, Gabriel, Ian, Maddie and Rhett, who would also like to sincerely thank the staff at The Lantern at Morning Pointe in Powell for their care and support of her needs as they advanced.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Operation Christmas Child to help share the love of Christ with children throughout the world or Isaiah 117 House in honor of her great grandchildren who brought her so much joy.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 12 from 5:00PM to 7:00PM on at Mynatt Funeral Home Fountain City. Family and friends will meet on Friday October 13, 2023 at 1:00PM at Lynnhurst Cemetery for a graveside service, with Rev. Jody Winstead officiating.
