Jay Lee Metz

On August 26^th 2023, Jay Lee Metz suddenly passed away to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

A resident of Knoxville, Tennessee, Jay is survived by his devoted wife of nineteen years, Kristi Metz.  Jay is preceded in death by his father, James Addison Metz, and his mother, Barbara Taylor Metz Pressprich.  Jay is survived by his brother Robert Taylor (Gloria) and their 2 children: Marcy Taylor (Michael) and her son, Sterling Stevens and his daughter Stella Lou; and Jessica Taylor Murphy (Seth) and their children Jaxon and Levi. Brother Mark Taylor (Debbie) and their 3 children: Paul (Mary), Peter (Lindsey) and their children Westin and Cason, and Joy Bishop and her children Dean and Jenna.  Sister Lana Lee Taylor Barber (Al), and their 4 children: Michelle Barber Rowe and her children Matthew, Emily, Sage and Lulu; Wenda Kay Barber Vidrios (Jose) and their children Joey, Sabrey, Audrey, and Jose, William Alvin Barber (Tammy) and their children David, Anna and Katy, and Christopher Barber (Topher).

Jay’s family includes Kristi’s mother and father Verlin and Mary Sandlin and Kristi’s sisters and their families: Katrina Sandlin Montoya and her daughter Elizabeth who has 2 children Jaziel and Jared; Kobi Sandlin Campbell (Lance) and their children Brittany, Grace Grigsby (Cory) and Nathaniel, and Melissa Sandlin Winters (Tom);

Jay had 32 years of experience in the power industry beginning with Precision Instruments (1990-1992), Lodge Cottrell Engineering (1993-2000), Alstom (2000-2015), General Electric (2015-2020), and Hitachi Zosen Inova (2020-2023).  He worked his way up to a senior designer and then became a manager at HZI.  He loved and respected his Alstom and HZI families.

Memorial Service will be held at Mynatt Funeral Home in Halls, Tennessee at 6:30 pm on Tuesday, August 29^th, 2023.  Graveside service will be held in Allen, Texas at Turrentine Jackson Morrow Funeral Home.
