Janie Newman

Polly Jane Newman, age 73, born April 21, 1951, in Letcher, KY, passed away on Saturday, September 14, 2024, in Knoxville, TN. Janie was a beloved member of her community, known for her warmth and kindness. She spent her life nurturing relationships with family and friends, leaving a lasting impact on all who knew her.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Golda Stipes; brothers, Frank Stipes and Robert Stipes; sisters, Jackie Walden and Carol Dalton.

Janie is survived by her loving husband Douglas Newman; daughter, Alice (Keith) Maynard; son, Douglas E. (Nicole) Newman; grandchildren, Tyler (Tiffany) Maynard, Jonathan Maynard, Shalyn (Shawn) Taylor. Dalton Maynard, and Nicholas Newman; 5 greatgrandchildren and 1 on the way; brothers, Kenneth Stipes, Bud (Pam) Stipes, and Charlie (Dina) Stipes; and sisters, Lois Treat and Ruth (David) Ell; and sister-in-law, Joan Stipes.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, September 19, 2024, from 5:00 PM -7:00 PM at Mynatt Funeral Home, Halls Chapel. The funeral service will be held on Friday, September 20, 2024, at 10:30 AM, at Mynatt Funeral Home, Halls Chapel. Pastor Randy Gaut will be officiating.
