Janice Louise Roop

Janice L. Roop (1952-2025) - It's with great sadness that the family of Janice Roop announces her passing on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, at her home in Fountain City, TN.  Janice was born on August 5, 1952 in Knoxville, TN to J. B. and Irene Koontz.  

Janice was a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother.  She is survived by her Loving husband, Earl, of 55 beautiful years.  Her children Whitney Mauldin (Mark) and Jamie Roop (Jennifer); Garrett and Olivia Mauldin, and Hadyn Szulewski; brother, J. D. Bright, and sisters Janet Greene and Sarah Allison (Lowell); numerous nieces and nephews.  

She was preceded in death by her parents, J. B. and Irene Koontz; brother Roy E. Koontz "Bud" and sister Patricia Ann Hickey.  

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 24, 2025 from 5:00 p.m.- 7:00 p.m. at Mynatt Funeral Home, Fountain City Chapel following by a 7:00 p.m. service, Rev. Carl Oaks officiating.  Family and friends will meet 1:45 p.m. Wednesday, June 25, 2025 at East Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery 2200 East Gov. John Sevier Highway Knoxville, TN  37920 for a 2:00 p.m. committal service.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations by made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital or to Shriner's Children's Hospital.  Condolences may be left at www.mynattfh.com.
