Janice Sue Beal

Janice Sue Beal, age 81, of Knoxville, Tennessee, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, December 22, 2025. Janice was a loving and patient mother and grandmother who always put her family first. She married the love of her life, Otis Inman Beal Jr., on November 6, 1960, and they shared 59 wonderful years of marriage before Junior’s passing. Their love was a constant example to all who knew them.

She was a longtime member of Fountain City Presbyterian Church and The Good News Sunday school class. Janice was known for her strong work ethic and dedication. She worked for many years at First Tennessee Bank (Fountain City Branch & Uptown) before continuing her career at Jewelry Television, where she retired in 2011.

Janice found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She had a lifelong love for Elvis Presley and his music, along with classic “solid gold oldies.” In her later years, coloring became a favorite pastime. She also loved watching Jeopardy and classic television shows.

She is survived by her son, Chuck (Jennifer) Beal; grandchildren: Ashley (Robert) Barks, Allison (Derek) Osborne, Brandon, Lily, and Mady; her great-grandchildren: Aurora, Nevaeh, Arya, and Jameson; and sister, Faye Jones.

Janice was preceded in death by the love of her life, Otis Inman Beal Jr.; her daughter, Tina Maxwell; parents, Charles and Selma Johnson; beloved Granny, Rachel Johnson; brother, Billy; and her sisters: Taubbie, Jessie, Georgia, and Roberta. In her own words, Janice often said her grandchildren were “the most precious things.” She loved her family deeply, especially her grandbabies. Though she will be deeply missed, her family finds comfort knowing she is happily reunited in Heaven with her beloved Junior.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, December 30, 2025, from 5:00-7:00pm at Mynatt Funeral Home, Fountain City Chapel, followed by a 7:00pm funeral service. Family and friends will meet at 10:45am on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, at Lynnhurst Cemetery for an 11:00am interment. An online obituary may be viewed, and condolences made at www.mynattfh.com
