Jane Bohanan

October 3, 1937 — July 7, 2024

Knoxville

Jane Kennedy Bohanan, 86, passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by friends and family on July 7, 2024. She was born on October 3, 1937 to the late Lawrence Kennedy, Sr. and Johnnie (LaRue) Kennedy.

A life-long Knoxvillian, she was a 1955 Central High School graduate. After school, she married her childhood sweetheart, Gerald W "Jerry" Bohanan (1934-2009) who she married in 1957. They lived on a farm in North Knoxville where she gardened and lived as a true farm gal. Her life-long love of horses led her to become an accomplished equestrian, riding both Western and English, specializing in dressage.

Throughout the years, Jane's life was filled with many chapters; she was an accomplished artist in several mediums, such as colored pencil, acrylic, and water color. She loved road trips in the RV with Jerry and their cats over the last five decades, going on many adventures with friends, and attending art classes. She and Jerry had three children, whom she adored.

In her later years, Jane enjoyed lunches with friends and going for rides in the car. Her love of traveling never left her. Jane was also a beloved member of North Hills Baptist Church.

She is preceded in death by her parents and husband, Jerry.

Jane is survived by her children, Linda Leilani Bohanan (David Meridieth), Gerald W. "Joe" Bohanan, Jr. (Brenda), and Kelli K. Bohanan (Curtis Meredith); grandchildren, Jessie and Erin Bohanan; step-daughter, Elizabeth Brown; and great granddaughter, Madeline Eva Brown.

The family would like to give special thanks to friend and caretaker Christopher Grigsby, Suzanne Gaylon, UT Hospice, and the members of North Hills Baptist Church.

Friends and family may gather at Mynatt Funeral Home-Fountain City Chapel on Wednesday, July 10, 2024 from 5-7pm. A celebration of life will commence at 7pm with Pastor Mike McKenny officiating. Jane loved you as you are, so come as you are.

Family will meet at Lynnhurst Cemetery, 2300 Adair Dr, on Thursday, July 11 at 10:45am for an 11am graveside service. Everyone in attendance is welcome to join the family after the graveside service for food and fellowship at North Hills Baptist Church, 2901 Fairway Rd, Knoxville.

“Be nice and love each other” – Jane
