James Franklin Vance, age 93 of Knoxville, passed away on Sunday, January 28, 2024. Jim proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War era. After his time in the Marines, he discovered his love of golf. He was an avid golfer and a charter member of Knoxville Municipal Golf Course. He retired from the Martin Marietta Y-12 plant after working there for more than 30 years. Most importantly, he loved his family and enjoyed all family activities, celebrations, and the many beach trips. Jim had a special love for his grandson Mark and his granddaughter Emily. He was preceded in death by his father Frank Millard Vance, mother Myrtle Allen Vance, nephew Mark Vance Moore and granddaughter Emily Ann McGaha. His is survived by his wife of 73 years, Eleanor Ann Vance, daughters Donna McGaha and Jim Lawler, Jamie and Stan Pozega, grandson Mark Franklin Pozega, sister Betty Vance Moore of Roanoke, VA, nephew Michael Moore and his family Lisa, Annabelle, Penley and Miriam. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00pm on Wednesday, January 31, 2024, at Mynatt Funeral Home Fountain City Chapel. Family and friends will then meet at 2:45pm at Greenwood Cemetery for a 3:00pm graveside service. Online condolences may be made at www.mynattfh.com
