James Denver Smith

James Denver Smith, age 79, of Knoxville, TN, passed away peacefully on November 28, 2023, at his home.

Jim was a licensed engineer who retired from TVA and spent the next several years working at engineering firms across the Southeast.

He is preceded in death by his father and mother, James Glen Smith and Bonita Raley Smith; brother, Charles Larry Smith.

He is survived by his wife, Carolyn Ann Smith; daughter, Jill Smith Renfro and husband Robert V. Renfro; grandson, Austin R. Douglas.

Family and friends will meet on Thursday, November 30, 2023, at 12:45pm at Lynnhurst Cemetery for an 1:00pm graveside service with Melvin Harrell officiating.

In lieu of flowers, family is requesting donations to be made to Humane Society of the Tennessee Valley, 6716 Kingston Pike, Knoxville, TN 37919, in Jim’s memory.
