James (Jim) Purdom Jr., 84, passed away peacefully on November 29, 2025, in Knoxville, Tennessee, the city where he was born and spent his life.

Born on July 29, 1941, in Knoxville, Jim was the son of James and Marcella Purdom. He built a life rooted in hard work, family devotion and quiet passions that brought him joy throughout the years.

Jim dedicated his career as a White Stores manager, where he managed stores with diligence and pride. Known for his strong work ethic and commitment to excellence, he took great satisfaction in doing his job well and leading by example. His professional life reflected the same values he carried into every aspect of his personal life—integrity, dedication and care.

A man of Baptist faith, Jim found strength and guidance through his beliefs. He was a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who cherished time spent with his family. He often spoke proudly of them to others, celebrating their accomplishments and milestones with heartfelt joy.

Jim is survived by his son, James Purdom III; his son and daughter-in-law ,Timothy and Sherry Purdom; and his daughter and son-in-law Michelle and Chad Evatt. He also leaves behind five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren who will carry forward the legacy of love and strength he instilled in them.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Bobbie Jo Purdom, as well as his parents, James and Marcella Purdom.

In addition to the deep bonds he shared with family, James enjoyed simple pleasures that connected him to nature. He found peace in fishing and spent many hours arrowhead hunting.

Jim’s memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew him. May his legacy bring comfort to all who mourn his passing. 

A private graveside service will be held on December 3, 2025.
