James "Poppy Jim" Ballard

James “Poppy Jim” Ballard, age 85, went Home to be with the Lord, surrounded by family and with a smile on his face. He was a member of Liberty Baptist Church. Jim enjoyed golfing, fishing, and singing in the Ballard Quartet. He was a member of Andersonville Valley Lodge #383 and of Eastern Star Chapter 369. Preceded in death by parents, George and Blanche Ballard; brothers-in-law, AJ Green, Coy Green and Winfred Green; sister-in-law, Mary Kate Ballard. Left to cherish his memory are loving wife, Joyce Ballard; children, Donny (Cathy) Ballard, Steve Ballard and Vanessa (Robert) Durand; grandchildren, Brandi O’Neal, Robert Gilson, Jr., Tiffini Sampsel, Johnathon Durand and Charity Milks; 13 great grandchildren; brothers, Harry Ballard and William (Ruth) Ballard; brother-in-law, Ray Green; sisters-in-law, Doris Thomas and Mary Ellen Norris; and a host of friends. Family and friends will meet 10:15AM Wednesday at the funeral home and proceed to Norris Memorial Gardens for 11AM interment service. Family will receive friends 6-8PM Tuesday Mynatt Funeral Home Halls Chapel with funeral service to follow, Rev. Charlie Tindell and Rev. Ray Hill officiating.
