James Douglas Phipps

James Douglas Phipps, age 57 of South Knoxville, passed away tragically Saturday, September 27, 2025. He was a member of Redemption Harvest Church, where he attended regularly. He had a huge heart and cared for the homeless. He was a graduate from Von Gilder, where he played basketball. Preceded in death by his wife, Donna King, father Bobby Joe Phipps, Sr., grandmother Bessie Howard, brother Tim Howard; brother-in-laws, Pat McCoy and Terry Jones.  Survived by daughter Alesha Phipps, parents Imy and Ronnie Weaver, siblings Bobby Phipps, Jr., Pamela Jones, Michelle (Kirby) Hayes, Phyllis (David) Cunningham, Hope Weaver, Ronnie Weaver, Jr., Terry Weaver, Michelle Blair, and Andrea Cooper, grandsons Cameron and Colby Isbel, several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews that he spoiled dearly. The family will receive friends 5:00-7:00pm Monday, October 6, 2025, at Redemption Harvest Church, 7824 Old Maynardville Pike Knoxville, TN 37938, followed by a Celebration of Life service, Pastor Jody Darden officiating.
