James Ownby
July 9, 1941 — April 14, 2025
Knoxville
James (Jay) A. Ownby, age 83, of Knoxville, passed away Monday, April 14, 2024 at Beverly Park Place. He was a member of New Beverly Baptist Church. He retired from White Lily Foods.
He was preceded in death by parents, Ray Brazelton Ownby and Mattie Beatrice Ownby; brother, Jerry Ray Ownby; and step-sister, Sheila Campbell.
He is survived by children, Sabrena Dunn (Randy) and Jeff Ownby (Deana); grandchildren, Jason Dunn (Erica) and April Hayes; great-grandson, Landyn Scott; and nephew, Greg Ownby (Misty).
The family would like to give a special thanks to James' caretaker, Joan Pratt.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 pm Monday, April 21, 2025 at Mynatt Funeral Home, Fountain City. The family and friends will meet at Greenwood Cemetery for the inurnment service at 11:00 am Tuesday, April 22, 2025.
