James Ronald Nix

August 6, 1947 — April 25, 2026

Powell

James (Jim) Ronald Nix, age 78, passed away April 25, 2026, at home.

Jim served in US Army and was a proud Vietnam Veteran. He loved sitting on the porches with Elaine bird watching and looking at wildlife that visited around the house. Jim enjoyed spending time outdoors mowing, tending to the flower beds, and garden in the “kid lot”. He loved to tell stories about his time during his service, working, family memories, and his “Home Place” in Powell before the area was well established like it is now. He descends from a historical well-loved family, one of the official First Families of Tennessee. His pride and joy came from his grandchildren and great-granddaughter.

Preceded in death by special companion for over 30 years Elaine Cline; parents, Racha Hugh and Fannie Estel Aulton Nix; brothers, Howard Nix, PFC Charles Lloyd Nix, Bobby Gene Nix, Cecil Nix, Jerry Nix and Robert Nix; sisters, Deloris Jones, Louise Ivey, Wilma Carter and Bettie Mynatt.

Survived by like a son Mike Cline and daughter-in-law Lisa Cline; JimPaw to CeAnna Sanders (Aaron) and Storm Cline; great-JimPaw to Lily Mae Sanders; sister, Rachel Yarber; and many loved nieces and nephews; special caretakers, neighbor, and friend Neta Wilcox and, like a brother-in-law, Shayne (Kristy) Cooper.

Family and friends will meet on Friday, May 22, 2026, at 2:15pm at Bells Campground Cemetery for a 2:30pm graveside service officiated by Rev. Keith Tillman.

In lieu of flowers, consider making a donation to The Wounded Warrior Project.

John 6:32-37 KJV: Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Moses gave you not that bread from heaven; but my Father giveth you the true bread from heaven. For the bread of God is he which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world. Then said they unto him, Lord, evermore give us this bread. And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst. But I said unto you, that ye also have seen me, and believe not. All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.
